There was a really interesting portion of Yarchei Kallah yesterday afternoon involving Judaic books. I never really had the chance to acquire any Jewish literature, but we were able to receive two books of choice thanks to Touro College. Additionally, we were provided about a half hour long discussion session on what book we chose and how it relates to ourselves and Judaism.
For my first book I chose Psalms because I never had the opportunity to read them, and because I really love poetry, or writing that expresses the deepest emotion. I decided to get a book on Jewish ethics for my second book, but unfortunately there were not enough for everybody to have a book and because I read so infrequently, decided to let somebody else take the actual book.
It was extremely generous of Touro College to provide nearly every Yarchei Kallah participant two books to add to their personal library to construct a broad knowledge of what it means to ethical, and well educated.
