On Sunday, May 5, Indiana’s South Bend NCSY Chapter ran its first “NCSY’s Got Talent” competition. More than 40 people attended the event which was hosted at the MidWest Torah Center. Eight performers showed off their talents and each received a $5 gift card to Gamestop.

Ethan Soloveychik was named the winner of the contest for his rendition of “Go the Distance,” a song from Disney’s “Hercules” movie. He received $25 gift card to the store of his choice.

“The event was a success,” said Rabbi Akiva Gutnicki, South Bend NCSY Director. “It brought a lot of attention to our NCSY Chapter and there was a great turn-out. People really felt the excitement of the competition and the sense of community that comes from being a part of an NCSY event.”

South Bend NCSY runs a variety of programs for teens in the area, including a weekly “Food & Shmuz,” and a monthly “Lounge Night.” A recent Shabbaton had 40 teenagers, the most the chapter has ever had in its 30 year history.
