National Board Update: Rosh Chodesh Adar II!

Posted on March 9, 2016

Hi everyone!

On March 10th and 11th, 2016, we’ll be welcoming the new Jewish month of Adar II! Our monthly Rosh Chodesh updates will give you a spark of inspiration, and the TOP THREE moments that stood out to us from Regions all over NCSY. Get excited, will your region be featured next?!

Sparks of Inspiration

After waiting a whole extra month, we’re finally in the fourteen day countdown till Purim! One of the messages that feels particularly pertinent this Adar, is the notion that even in the darkest of times, when Hashem seems totally out of the picture, He is still here, looking out for the Jewish people. In light of the recent tragedies in Israel, it is important for us to continue to daven and connect to Hashem, for even though He may feel distant, He has not left our side the entire time. The name of Hashem is not mentioned once in the entire Purim story as recounted in the Megillah, however the tremendous miracles of the Purim story could not have happened without Divine intervention. This reminds us that even when Hashem feels far away, He is actively renewing our world and intervening to make sure everything works out according to His plan. This gives the impetus to reconnect with Him, and do our best to foster a close relationship with the Creator.

NCSY Highlights!

NCSY is not just in your town, but it’s an international movement, inspiring and affecting teens just like ourselves all over the world. Check out some of our favorite moments from this past month…

  1. Southern NCSY had an incredible Winter Regional Ski Retreat this past month in Gatlinburg, Tennessee. Everyone had the most incredible time at a fun-filled, freezing cold weekend of inspiration!
  2. New York NCSY hosted a She’s Got Talent competition, showcasing female talents to a wide audience of Jewish women. In the spirit of Kol Isha, talented advisors, NCSYers, and community members showcased their tremendous musical talents in an uplifting competition.
  3. Chicago NCSY 4G hosted their winter Shabbaton with snow tubing, delicious food, awesome advisors and fabulous speakers at the Illinois Beach Resort in Zion, Illinois. NCSY 4G is an inspiring special girls-only NCSY program for girls across Chicago.

So there you have it, some inspiration, and an update on outstanding NCSY happenings around the world! Stay tuned for next month’s update!
