Parshat Ki Tisa is the ninth parsha in Sefer Shemot. The Jewish people become worried when Moshe is late returning from Mount Sinai, and begin worshiping a Golden Calf which they construct, angering God. Moshe appeases God but shatters the tablets upon seeing the disgraceful behavior of the Jews. God forgives the Jews and presents Moshe with a second set of tablets.
